Based on many years of experience in the field of vibration management and earthquake-critical infrastructure assessment, the AIT is an internationally renowned partner for dynamic tasks in the areas of risk assessment and complex modelling of structures. Numerical calculations are an important tool for predicting the safety of buildings and the failure states of structures or for determining the vibration effects of passing trains on structures close to railway lines.
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology develops complex mathematical models for realistic simulations in combination with complex material models, which are carried out on special high-performance computers. In addition to the high-quality technical equipment, the team has many years of experience in the mathematical representation of complex structural-mechanical situations, also in combination with model updating from in-situ measurements:
- Transient dynamic simulations (traffic crossings, earthquake time courses, aerodynamic loads etc.)
- Impact calculations in combination with nonlinear material models
- Nonlinear calculations for soil and structure
- Various non-linear earthquake analyses
- Simulation of wave propagation in various media
- Application of Model Updating Algorithms
- Solutions for contact problems in vehicle-road interaction
- Simulation of vibroacoustic effects (bridge noise) and structure-borne sound transmission in buildings
- Probabilistic methods for building evaluation and large-scale computer series of parameterized models
