Smart mobile furniture for the urban public realm
MOBLE develops a design for “smart seating” for short stays in urban settings along regular streets where space is limited. This requires location- and target group-appropriate design decisions. With their sensors and algorithms these seating units will be able to optimize their location themselves. Design and algorithms will be tested and evaluated using prototypes in public spaces. The goal of smart seating is to improve the quality of people’s daily walking trips.
This project is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) within the programme “Mobilität der Zukunft” under grant 865210 (“Smartes mobiles Sitzmobiliar zum kurzen Verschnaufen und Verweilen im Straßenraum“).
