Disinformation Detection
Disinformation - colloquially referred to as Fake News - poses a threat to democratic institutions, as it leads to a loss of trust, but also to real escalations, disruptions in pandemic management, and even market manipulation. At DSAI, we work with responsible authorities and leading content analysis and verification partners to address this broad issue from different perspective. This includes the detection of disinformation and other toxic content such as hate speech, sexism, anti-Semitism, and radicalization. We research novel Artificial Intelligence approaches based on multi-modal content analysis, including Natural Language Processing, audio and video-analysis to detect toxic content and content manipulations in all forms of media. The rapid dissemination and growth of information on social networks makes this task a Big Data problem that also requires attention to the technical aspects of managing and processing such volumes of data. Therefore, we combine this with our research focus on High Performance Computing (HPC) and High Performance Artificial Intelligence (HPAI) to develop tools and gain valuable insights that can contribute to counteract these toxic problems.
