Development of a catalog of criteria for the need for climate analyses at neighbourhood level
Schematic overview of a development area in the city centre. Question: What is the impact of a potential construction project on the air temperature in the neighbourhood?
The research project KataloQ gained relevant scientific findings on the potential impact of idealised construction and urban development projects on the air temperature (during heat days) in the surrounding area by means of sensitivity experiments using an urban climate model. To date, it has not been possible to establish any objective criteria for requiring corresponding simulations and assessments (unless an environmental impact statement must be prepared for a project). The results of the project, in the form of a catalogue of criteria, will be used directly by decision-makers and authorities to assess the need for spatially extended microclimate analyses. The developed catalogue of criteria can be considered in various legal instruments or procedures.
