Requirements and acceptance analysis of age-appropriate automated driving

The aged population is steadily increasing due to demographic change, and their participation in traffic is also increasing. At the same time, automated driving technologies will have become established over the next few years and decades. Current research indicates, that older people, in particular, could benefit from automated driving technologies and services that enhance their mobility, autonomy and quality of life. However, a systematic review about possibilities, barriers and impact of automated driving technologies and services is missing, especially from an elderly point of view involving older people as drivers and passengers, traffic participants including relevant context factors. A4F analyses the requirements and acceptance factors of age-appropriate automated driving. Based on a detailed analysis of existing and future use cases of age-based mobility solutions of different levels of automation, scenarios and system designs are prioritized. These are made available in multimedia form and further developed in a participatory design and evaluation process. Furthermore, needs and concerns regarding automated driving technologies and services will be identified and clearly presented.
