Surface structures for innovative low-noise washed concrete road pavements
The OSILAWA project deals with the further development of exposed aggregate concrete road pavements with regard to their acoustic properties. On the basis of texture and noise measurements on certain sections of the Austrian motorway network, promising development paths with regard to noise emission reduction are identified. Subsequently, innovative surface designs were produced in the laboratory and investigated with the aid of state-of-the-art measurement and simulation methods. From the results the noise reduction potentials of different variants could be determined and compared with the expected impact on the life cycle costs of the road pavements.
This project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) within the programme Mobilität der Zukunft (Call 2013) of the FFG. Further information can be found on the project website.
