The project "Telemonitoring Episode Report" for structured treatment programs in the healthcare sector is awarded the Living Standard Award 2022 in the category "IEEE Standards" by Austrian Standards. The joint project of the AIT Competence Unit Digital Health Information Systems (Center for Health and Bioresources) with ELGA GmbH, the Landesinstitut für integrierte Versorgung Tirol and the Gesundheitsfonds Steiermark improves structured treatment programs for chronically ill patients. Health care providers can access health data centrally, and patients have full transparency via ELGA.
The "Telemonitoring Episode Report" revolutionized the further use of data from telehealth systems. Patients can now use existing systems, such as the HerzMobil systems, to store measured values such as body weight, blood sugar, blood pressure or medication intake data in ELGA. The IEEE standard series 11073 "Service-Oriented Device Connectivity", among others, has helped with the implementation.
Austrian Standards is the independent and neutral Austrian organization for standardization and innovation and, together with European and international standardization partners (e.g. ISO, CEN and ETSI), networks topic-related stakeholders from business, research, administration and NGOs. Since 2014, the Living Standards Award has annually brought national and international hidden champions before the curtain. The award shows how standards help shape economic success, drive innovation and make ideas exportable. AIT has already been awarded the prize several times, already in 2017 and 2018 even in two categories, here the AIT Digital Health squad was also represented once before.
