What are the long-term effects of the research framework programmes on the green transformation?
An evaluation study coordinated by Technopolis and the AIT is dedicated to this topic. The evaluation covers all activities of the EU Framework Programmes in the field of green transformation. This includes relevant activities from Horizon2020 (2014-2020) and the first phase of HorizonEurope (2021-2023). The focus is particularly on clusters 5 and 6 (Pillar 2) of the Horizon Europe programme: climate, energy and mobility as well as food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment. Together, these two clusters account for 25.2% of the total Horizon Europe budget!
The results provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of the EU framework programmes in supporting the transition to a sustainable, climate-neutral economy and help to target future research and innovation strategies.
In addition, the study examines European Partnerships with a legal obligation for evaluation (such as Joint Undertakings, Knowledge and Innovation Communities and Programmes) active in Green Transition-related fields, as well as thematically relevant Missions and the JRC. Other Partnerships relevant for the Green Transition (Co-funded and Co-programmed European Partnerships) are taken into account as part of the evaluation of the thematic areas.
