A future-proof transport infrastructure is crucial for sustainable mobility and safe traffic routes. In episode 81 of the ÖAMTC podcast “Was uns bewegt” (What moves us), AIT expert Anna Huditz highlights innovative approaches aimed at extending the service life of roads and bridges, efficiently monitoring the condition of infrastructure and improving the safety of all road users.
Among other things, the discussion focuses on sustainable transport infrastructure, the use of innovative methods in structural monitoring and the importance of so-called “forgiving infrastructure” - a concept that aims to minimize the consequences of human error in road traffic. Huditz also explains how innovative methods for recording road conditions can be used to identify maintenance needs in good time and why it is essential that traffic infrastructure also takes into account the needs of differently protected road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists.
