Their work is included in the design collection of the MAK - Museum of Applied Arts and has been part of exhibitions at the Design Museum Holon, the Ars Electronica Festival, the Vienna Biennale, the Triennale di Milano and Expo Dubai. Process designed the official Austrian contribution to the London Design Biennale 2021. Tokens for Climate Care

Artist in Residence project on the subject of Emergence in cooperation with Process – Studio for Art and Design

The current edition of ARTTEC addresses the subject of Emergence and, in particular, the role of artificial intelligence in the area of creativity and the importance of this for the future development of humanity. Process – Studio for Art and Design has been invited to realise a new interdisciplinary art project in cooperation with AIT, which will be presented in the foyer from autumn 2022.

The work shown here, “Tokens for Climate Care”, focusses on the transformative impact of design. It employs artificial intelligence to create new, original symbols for climate activism. The basis of these is a comprehensive database of logos, symbols and glyphs, connected keywords in the broader context of “climate care” and the machine learning system GAN (Generative Adversarial Network). The potentially infinite number of variations of the tokens is based on Emergence. This describes that form of development of a system that results from the not obviously recognisable interplay between these elements.

However, the created tokens can escape the emergent system of the machine and, in line with the “Terms of Care”, be individually developed further and employed as symbols for climate protection.
