Rapid population growth poses significant challenges for cities in Latin America and the Caribbean. In particular, when planning and providign infrastructure, decision makers need the right tools and mechanisms to make informed decisions - for example to identify target areas of future urban development in the next years.
In order to be able to estimate the costs, a digital tool was developed at the AIT as a decision aid. Using the example of a data collection of a medium-sized Latin American city, the "Urban Expansion Simulator and Infrastructure Calulator" ("UESICC") makes it possible to visualize a wide range of various (cost) scenarios for water and energy supply.
