Exploring the realization of heat pump pooling for urban heat grids.

The integration of heat pumps can increase the economic efficiency of existing heat grids and support the electricity grid at the same time. The aim of the project was to develop innovative business models for small and medium-sized urban heat grids, especially with regard to synergies between the heat and electricity markets. The main focus was the application of heat pump pooling for participation in short-term electricity markets. The technical solution options developed within the project allow a reduction of heat generation costs by up to 28% compared to a scenario without heat pump. Based on these technical-economic results, business models were developed.
