The aim of the SPONGE project is to continue existing approaches for the rapid development of functional prototypes (rapid prototyping), as already described in the DG-EV-HIL project, in an integrated design environment with regard to smart grid services and power electronics. Therefore, procedures and methods for system design as well as the development process itself will be evaluated with regard to their optimization potential in terms of costs and "time to market". The aim is to reduce the development time for prototypes by up to 50%. By means of a demonstration application the methods and concepts for development support are validated in an overall view from concept to system verification.
