DIM4Energy

Digital information models (DIM) play an increasingly important role in planning and decision-making processes as well as for the operational optimization of cities, districts and buildings, from Building Information Modeling (BIM) to Urban Information Modeling (UIM).

The DIM4Energy project focuses on digital information models for planning and optimizing buildings and urban energy infrastructure. An important element of the project was an intensive stakeholder process with representatives from industry, administration and research.

The central element of the vision developed as part of the project is a UIM that includes both existing systems such as the building and apartment register (GWR) or BIM data records from the planning. It also provides for a central database based on the CityGML data model, which can be linked to other databases and tools via interfaces.

Guideline DIM4Energy (german)

The results of the DIM4Energy project are summarized in a guide.

The considerations focus on the following use cases

  •     Dynamic energy certificate: the building perspective
  •     Dynamic energy certificate: city perspective
  •     Planning and optimization of innovative heating networks
  •     Local energy planning from the perspective of PV
