AIT researcher Anita Graser, a Senior Scientist at the Centre for Digital Safety & Security, is one of seven female researchers nominated for the City of Vienna’s 2026 Hedy Lamarr Prize. This prestigious award honours outstanding female scientists who, through their excellent achievements in the field of information technology, make a significant contribution to digital innovation and serve as role models for women in research and technology.
Anita Graser is a scientist at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and is internationally recognised for her research into the analysis of spatial and temporal data. Her work focuses on innovative methods and open-source technologies for analysing movement data. Her research lays the foundation for data-driven decision-making in the fields of mobility, urban planning and sustainable transport systems, and makes a significant contribution to the development of smart digital solutions.
The Hedy Lamarr Prize has been awarded by the City of Vienna since 2018 and is named after the Austrian-American actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr, whose groundbreaking developments are regarded as the foundation of modern communication technologies. The prize honours female researchers who are actively shaping the digital future through scientific excellence and innovative thinking.
The award ceremony will take place on 18 November 2026 as part of the Digital Days at the Vienna Technical Museum. A total of seven female scientists have been nominated for the prize, which is endowed with 10,000 euros.
Anita Graser’s nomination underlines the international visibility of research at AIT and recognises her contribution to the development of innovative data-driven technologies. At the same time, it sends a strong signal regarding the importance of women in cutting-edge research and the digital transformation.
