AIT presented state-of-the-art product innovations together with IT security specialists at the “it-sa” trade fair in Nuremberg

From October 22 to 24, the joint exhibition stand (number 7-217, hall 7) at Europe's largest trade fair for IT security was once again dedicated to the motto “Sharing Innovation”: IT specialists X-Net, Rimage, industry partner LiSEC and Austria's largest applied research institution AIT Austrian Institute of Technology presented state-of-the-art, jointly developed product innovations.

AIT Cyber Range - Modern training for the operation of cyber-resilient critical infrastructures

As the world's first IAEA Collaborating Center in the field of cyber security, the AIT is responsible for nuclear security in the IAEA member states. For this purpose, the AIT operates a unique digital and hybrid simulation and training center - the AIT Cyber Range - at its premises in Vienna. An advanced audio-video setup in the training room allows participants to communicate flexibly with each other and share their screen content on large projection screens with the entire training group. As the training room is also suitable for online events, it has functions for the live transmission of video and audio to the internet. More information: https://cyberrange.at/

Fake Shop Detector exposes online fraudsters

Fake stores on the Internet are becoming more numerous and at the same time more difficult to recognize. The Fake Shop Detector, developed by the AIT in close cooperation with the Austrian Institute for Applied Telecommunications (ÖIAT) and the Austrian Internet specialist X-Net, offers support in tracking down online fraudsters. The Fake Shop Detector uses artificial intelligence to check unknown online stores for more than 21,000 features in real time. Above all, permanent quality control of the AI by humans is an inherent part of the AI-based solution. If a store is suspicious, the detector issues a warning and protects consumers preventively against online fraud. Last year, this success led to a new partnership between AIT and the Bavarian Ministry of Justice to tailor the successful Fake Shop Detector to the specific requirements of law enforcement authorities and develop it further for their investigative work. The tool has also won several awards (eAward 2023, State Prize for Digitization 2024, Constantinus Award 2024, KSÖ Security Award 2024) and was recently the Austrian winner among 35 international cybersecurity products tested for their effectiveness against fake stores by independent system testing expert AV-Comparatives. The development of the Fake Shop Detector is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance in the KIRAS security research program. Further information: https://www.fakeshop.at/
