The recently completed EU project SOLIFLY, coordinated by AIT, has shown that the integration of batteries directly into the aircraft structure is a promising solution for the electrification of aviation. Significant weight savings can be achieved by developing structural batteries that not only carry mechanical loads but also store electrical energy. This is a decisive step towards more efficient, lower-emission next-generation aircraft.
