The Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 brought together several thousand experts from the fields of research, industry, politics and public administration in Budapest from 18 to 21 May. The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology was represented with numerous contributions from various Centres and Units and used the conference as a platform for scientific exchange, international networking and the discussion of future mobility solutions.
AIT researchers presented expert lectures, scientific papers and posters on current topics in transport and mobility research. The focus included AI-supported methods for transport planning, innovative mobility solutions for rural regions, climate-resilient transport systems, as well as issues of road safety and the decarbonisation of the transport sector.
In addition to the scientific programme, AIT actively participated in the activities of key European research networks. The conference included meetings of the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI) and the European Automotive Research Partners Association (EARPA). These provided an opportunity to discuss current research priorities, strengthen international cooperation and develop joint initiatives for the mobility of the future.
TRA is one of the most important European events in the field of transport and mobility. AIT’s strong presence at the event underscores the institute’s deep roots in European research and innovation networks, as well as its contribution to the development of sustainable, safe and smart mobility systems.
