As KURIER reports, the LKR Leichtmetallkompetenzzentrum Ranshofen is one of Austria's most innovative companies: In the latest ranking by KURIER in cooperation with the IMWF Institut für Management- und Wirtschaftsforschung, LKR was awarded second place in the “Metallurgical Industry” category.
In total, more than 1,900 Austrian companies from industry, services, and trade were analyzed based on their innovation performance as part of the renowned innovation ranking. Decisive criteria for the ranking included innovation reputation, investment in research and development, and national and international awards. The evaluation was carried out using AI-supported content and tone analysis of over 119,000 media articles, as well as taking into account patents, collaborations with universities, and funding projects.
“This award confirms our strategy of consistently investing in forward-looking technologies, sustainable materials development, and industrial digitalization,” emphasizes Christian Chimani, Managing Director of LKR. As part of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, LKR is a key driver of innovation for the international light metal and materials industry.
LKR also scored highly last year with outstanding research work: At the Houskapreis 2024, Austria's most prestigious private research award, AIT researcher Thomas Klein was named a finalist in the “Non-University Research” category for the LKR project “Development of additives for additive manufacturing of large metal components.” In addition, the “LH₂-WAM tank” project took second place in the Upper Austrian Innovation Award – a strong signal for the relevance of LKR innovations in the field of sustainable lightweight construction and hydrogen technologies.
