The ravages of time are affecting Europe's road bridges. As part of the REAL LAST project, however, a method has now been developed to extend the remaining service life of the supporting structures. The aim is to save resources and minimize the environmental impact of renovations. "There is enormous potential here for saving costs, energy and materials. Our work therefore makes a direct contribution to reducing the environmental impact," explains AIT structural dynamics expert Alois Vorwagner in an interview with the "Presse" (in German):
