Power Electronics for Energy Transition Symposium: Successful kick-off in Graz

07.10.2025
Around 150 experts from research, industry and business met in Graz on 30 September and 1 October 2025 for the Power Electronics for Energy Transition Symposium, organised by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and Silicon Austria Labs (SAL).

Power electronics is considered a key technology for the energy transition – and that was precisely the focus of the two-day symposium. In addition to 21 exhibitors and 20 scientific posters, the event offered high-calibre keynotes, exciting specialist presentations and numerous networking opportunities.

The first day focused on automotive & charging applications and sustainability & circular economy in power electronics. International experts such as Marcelo Lobo Heldwein, Jonas Huber and representatives from Infineon Technologies Austria AG, Fronius International GmbH, Graz University of Technology, Compact Power Motion GmbH and Alstom shared their insights on current trends and challenges in the industry.

On the second day, the focus was on DC Industry and Medium Voltage Applications – with keynotes by Holger Borcherding and Drazen Dujic. Topics discussed included direct current networks for industrial applications, new test procedures and innovative medium-voltage technologies for the energy transition.

The symposium made it clear that collaboration is the key to successfully shaping the transformation to sustainable energy systems.
