In keeping with its motto, "Health Informatics meets eHealth", the eHealth conference series provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, decision makers and vendors to discuss innovative health informatics and eHealth solutions so as to improve the quality and efficiency of health care. Each year, this event attracts up to 300 participants from academia, industry, government and health care organizations.
The special topic for eHealth2018 will be "Biomedical meets eHealth - From Sensors to Decisions"
Conference proceedings
All accepted full papers (both oral presentation and posters) will be published “open access” by IOS Press in the Studies in Health Technologies and Informatics series. They will be indexed in PubMed and Web of Science, among others. Selected papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of Applied Clinical Informatics (ACI).

E.T. Award
The 2018 E. T. Award is assigned to the applicant who uses information and communication technology in the most innovative way, in order to establish new opportunities for communication in between partners in health care.

Workshop: ICT Support in Dementia
In recent years, many national and European research projects have been launched, aiming at developing ICT-based solutions for persons with dementia or their caregivers. As part of the eHealth 2018 conference, possibilities of ICT-based systems to support persons with dementia and their caregivers in their daily lives are discussed within the workshop “What do information and communication technologies offer for people with dementia and their caregivers?”.
According to current estimates, 130.000 people are living with dementia in Austria - a number that is expected to double by 2050. Persons with dementia are confronted with a progressive loss of memory, changes in their perception and behavior as well as problems in independently performing everyday tasks. The majority of persons with dementia are provided care in their own homes by family members or relatives that in many cases feel overburdened with their care responsibilities, leading to stress, feelings of helplessness, and even caregiver burnout.
Caregivers, representatives of care organizations and other people that are in contact with persons with dementia as well as persons involved in the development of innovative solutions for persons with dementia are invited to join the discussion within this workshop.
