ERIGrid 2.0: First call for the use of 21 European Smart Grids and Smart Energy Systems Laboratories starts

Now online: Virtual Access Service for research on energy system infrastructure and further education

The ERIGrid 2.0 research infrastructure project (successor of the recently finished successful ERIGrid project) makes it possible to open the research services and instruments of 21 European Smart Grid and Smart Energy Systems laboratories to external users and young researchers. The project is working on the provision of holistic, cyber-physical validation methods for the energy system of the future; provided via physical and virtual access to the corresponding facilities.

Start of the application for participation: On 1st October 2020 the first call for the use of 21 European Smart Grids and Smart Energy Systems laboratories has started. Researchers and engineers can now apply for the participation until 31 December 2020. ERIGrid 2.0 thus opens Europe's best research infrastructures to researchers and engineers to advance the development and validation of novel approaches and concepts for the integrated energy system of the future. Open Access for virtual facilities now online: Since October 2020, the first infrastructures have been online, offering free access for researchers, qualified employees of laboratories and infrastructure facilities. This is an important contribution of the project to the education and training for qualified employees from all over Europe. AIT SmartEST laboratory is part of ERIGrid 2.0: The Center for Energy of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology leads the European consortium of 20 innovation partners from 13 European countries. The AIT SmartEST laboratory provides advanced Controller and Power Hardware-in-the-Loop (CHIL/PHIL) applications and the simulation of Smart Grid and Smart Energy Systems scenarios (sector coupling) with is of particular interest for the ERIGrid 2.0 project.
