AIT experts visited Tbilisi/Georgia in its role of a Knowledge Partner in ADB’s Future Cities Program (FCP) as part of the midterm site visit of the current joint project Knowledge Capacity Development – Urban Transport in Tbilisi. The project focuses on pedestrian and traffic flow simulations for planning and optimization of multimodal transport hubs, multimodal transport data collection via “AIT Smart Survey”, a smartphone app-based tool, and capacity building by bringing together experts from the Technical Universities and Municipal Departments of Tbilisi and Vienna.

The AIT team had discussions with other ADB consultants, such as KMPG Singapore and Mott MacDonald, and also met with Deputy Mayor Irakli Lekvinadze from the Transport Department and Arad Benkö, Austrian Ambassador in Georgia. At Georgian Technical University, experts from AIT presented recent developments in simulation and data collection methodologies for planning of urban mobility.
