Urban Living Labs

25.10.2016
AIT, Vienna University of Technology, and City of Vienna hold joint Lecture Exercise

Starting in November 2016 a new lecture on the transformation of cities in the light of climate change and the COP 21 Agreement will be offered at the Technical University Vienna

In an interdisciplinary approach, theoretical and experimental concepts for Urban Living Labs are explained and presented in their numerous application fields. Lectures are starting from open-innovation, and user innovation concepts, to transformation- and transition-research including resilience and sustainability concepts. In the practical part, students will investigate best practice examples, which will be compiled in groups, and jointly evaluated. A technical tour completes the program.

Initiated and directed by Brigitte Bach, a number of outstanding lecturers will explain the principles and driving forces leading to a resilient and sustainable city. Thomas Madreiter from the City of Vienna will allow students to gain first-hand insights presenting the Living Lab in Vienna, explaining the chosen approaches, relevant research questions, as well as first findings, and options for participation.
