Resources, energy-efficiency and ecological building and planning – not only a controversial topic in times of climate change and resource scarcity, but also a major topic for students of architecture, planning and engineering, concerning their future professions. As Austria is a leading country regarding green & passive house building, we want to share this first hand ecological knowledge and engineering expertise - combined with outstanding experience, know-how and best-practice examples. Therefore the Summer University Green.Building.Solutions. 2016 offer a 3-week-master-level program for students and professionals in the capital of energy efficient and green building: Vienna.
The program is organized and implemented by seven Austrian Universities and further institutions. The summer program takes place from July 23 - August 14, 2016 for the 6th time. It aims at architects, engineers and economists as well as marketers and project developers. 2015 saw the 5th instalment of the program with 35 participants from 20 different countries. The OeAD-Housing Office was awarded with the Environmental Award of the City of Vienna in March 2015 for its outstanding and overarching project ‘Sustainable living and studying’ and is honored by the Austrian Commission for UNESCO.
AIT Energy Department offers the students insights into the research field Smart Buildings and its challenges and trends. Additionally, the energy experts of AIT present results from national and international research projects on the nexus to the research topics smart cities, smart grids, photovoltaics and thermal energy systems. The students also get the chance to see AIT’s laboratories for heat pumps, photovoltaics, electric grids and the living lab ENERGYbase, a sustainable passive house office building.
