CMG-AE conference on Industry 4.0

22.12.2015
Marc Busch from AIT Innovation Systems Department spoke about human factors in Industry 4.0.

On the 26th of November, the Computer Measurement Group – Austria & Eastern Europe (CMG-AE) organized a conference about Industry 4.0 in collaboration with Doka GmbH. The conference started with a tour through Doka’s, to experience how modern semi-autonomous production works. Next, speakers from research and industry presented insights into trends and developments towards the factory of the future.

Marc Busch from AIT Innovation Systems Department, Business Unit "Technology Experience", gave a talk about human factors in Industry 4.0: a scientific and thorough analysis of how workers and employees interact with technologies, machines and roboters can substantially improve effectiveness, efficiency, satisfaction and wellbeing. Several methods can provide fruitful insights: ethnographic observations and interviews in the factory context reveal problems that workers and employees have. Based on the identified problems, interaction and design approaches such as gamification can be personalized to worker/employee characteristics (e.g. personality, attitudes) and be used to motivate and to engage them.
