Presentation of AIT Senior Scientist in the Austrian Parliament on Democratic Innovations

20.02.2015

Currently political systems are experiencing a series of financial market related, economic and social crises. In such a situation political systems are subject to debates about their legitimacy. Do we have a crisis of democracy, of which falling approval rates of politicians and democratic institutions and sinking voter turnout at elections are a proof? How can we make our democratic systems more resilient and more attractive to citizens? The answer lies in democratic innovations that are currently institutionalised in many political systems of the OECD world. Participatory, deliberative, direct democratic and other forms of innovations are discussed in the talk of Dr. Peter Biegelbauer, Senior Scientist at the AIT Innovation Systems Department, at the Austrian Parliament on 20 February 2015.
