Bereits seit 2010 veranstalten wir gemeinsam mit den niederösterreichischen Förderagenturen tecnet equity und accent den AIT Poster Award. In den vergangenen 12 Jahren konnten wir damit mehr als 250 junge Forscher*innen bei der wirtschaftsnahen Umsetzung ihrer Projekte unterstützen. Dieses Jahr haben 14 Diplomand*innen, Doktorand*innen und Junior Scientists aus sechs Centern beim Wettbewerb mitgemacht.
Mina Schütz aus dem Center for Digital Safety & Security ist die Gewinnerin des diesjährigen AIT Poster Awards und erhält dafür ein Preisgeld von 1.500 Euro. Sie hat eine Methode entwickelt, die deutschsprachige Social Media Postings und Nachrichtenartikel auf ihre Echtheit überprüft. Mit dieser beeindruckenden Methode können Fake News, Hate Speech und Verschwörungstheorien im Internet entlarvt werden.
Den zweiten Platz belegt Christian Kapeller aus dem Center for Vision, Automation & Control. Für seine Forschung an hoch-performanten Inspektionssystemen, die Oberflächen von Batteriefolien automatisch kontrollieren und selbst kleinste Fehler bei sehr hohen Produktionsgeschwindigkeiten sofort erkennen, erhält er ein Preisgeld von 1.000 Euro.
Der dritte Platz mit einem Preisgeld von 500 Euro geht an Ulrike Ritzinger aus dem Center for Energy. Sie forscht an vorausschauenden Algorithmen, die, eingebettet in einer Simulation, binnen einer Sekunde eine Routenoptimierung berechnen und somit den schnellsten Transportweg für Zusteller*innen ermitteln.

Fighting fake news with a new method
We have been organising the AIT Poster Award together with the Lower Austrian funding agencies tecnet equity and accent since 2010. In the past 12 years, we have supported more than 250 young researchers in the business-oriented implementation of their projects. This year, 14 diploma students, doctoral students and Junior Scientists from six Centers took part in the competition.
Mina Schütz from the Center for Digital Safety & Security is the winner of this year's AIT Poster Award and receives a cash prize of 1,500 Euros. She has developed a method that checks German-language social media postings and news articles for authenticity. This impressive method can be used to debunk fake news, hate speech and conspiracy theories on the internet.
Second place goes to Christian Kapeller from the Center for Vision, Automation & Control. He receives a cash prize of 1,000 Euros for his research on high-performance inspection systems that automatically check the surfaces of battery foils and immediately detect even the smallest defects at very high production speeds.
Third place with a cash prize of 500 Euros goes to Ulrike Ritzinger from the Center for Energy. Her research focuses on predictive algorithms that, embedded in a simulation, calculate a route optimisation within one second and thus determine the fastest transport route for delivery drivers.
