5th CityGML Energy ADE workshop, hosted by AIT on 30-31 May 2016 in Vienna

07.06.2016

The Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), together with the CityGML Standard Working Group of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC CityGML SWG), as well as the Special Interest Group 3D (SIG 3D) have organized a joint workshop regarding the development of an Application Domain Extension (ADE) for the CityGML standard. This extension, named Energy ADE aims at defining standardised energy-related features and attributes needed, for example, for building energy simulation purposes at city scale.

CityGML is a common information model for the representation, storage, and exchange of virtual 3D city models. It provides a standard model for describing 3D objects with respect to their geometry, topology, semantics and appearance. CityGML is conceived to support the general trend toward modelling not only individual buildings but also whole sites, districts, cities, regions, and countries.

The workshop, hosted by AIT, gathered 30 participants from 7 European countries and gave the opportunity to gather requirements, ideas, and suggestions from CityGML users, data producers, software vendors, and scientists. The goal was to further develop and use the Energy ADE, bringing together experts from different disciplines to share experiences and contribute with constructive input and new ideas. The workshop was a follow-up of the previous ones held in Munich, Sophia Antipolis, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart.
