The SET Plan 2016 – Central European Energy Conference X featured 8 main panels on the priorities of the Energy Union and SET Plan and 6 parallel thematic dinner sessions on related subjects attended by policy-makers and stakeholders from business, science and innovation, civil society and regional and local government.
Brigitte Bach, Head of Center for Energy and Coordinator of the EERA Joint Programme on Smart Cities, was invited as a member of the Panel on Efficient energy and smart cities at the conference.
The panel was chaired by Marie Donnelly, Director of Directorate C – Renewables, R&I, Energy Efficiency, DG ENER of the European Commission. The panel discussed the implementation of key actions under the Integrated SET-Plan, focusing on energy efficiency. It considered the lessons member states learned from the implementation of the 2020 Framework targets on energy efficiency and R&I and looked on how to reach the ambitious targets of the 2030 Framework. In addition, the review of the directive on energy efficiency was discussed in the EU Council during the Slovak Presidency.
