Design of bionic structures

Design of structures or components under static and dynamic loads using conventional and bionic approaches

The LKR is dealing with the structural design of components made of aluminium and magnesium. In combination with material modelling, customer-specific simulation models can be created and simulated. The scope can range from simple components to the simulation of entire assemblies. With the FEM software packages ANSYS and LS-DYNA static and dynamic problems can simulated.

Beyond the simple simulation and validation of structures, the LKR is happy to advise on how to improve structures under the given loads. For this purpose, conventional approaches as well as bionic approaches are available.

One example for the successful application of a bionic approach is a 2-chamber profile cross-section under axial compression. Minimal changes at the critical zones allowed for almost crack free deformation.
