After four and a half years the Foresight on Demand Framework Contract which provided services to the European Commission and its partner institutions came to an end in January 2024. The framework contract was coordinated by the AIT Center for Innovation Systems & Policy and implemented together with 15 partner organisations. Under the header “Consolidating FOD” 26 representatives of the consortium came together on January 18, 2024, online to discuss the experiences made in 29 Foresight projects implemented for DG RTD, DG GROW, DG JUST, DG EAC and the EEA.
During the workshop the results of preparatory interviews with the FOD partner organisations were presented as a basis for the further discussion of challenges and successes in four particular workflows, namely within activities concerning the “Identification and mobilization of experts and stakeholders”, “Client and user management”, “Futures literacy and Foresight capacity in client organisations”, as well as related to the “Visibility and Impact” of FOD projects. Together with the main client, the FOD consortium partners reflected on the impact of the FOD Framework Contract as well as on the future of EU Foresight. Insights into the follow-up project "Eye of Europe" made clear that the results of FOD offer fertile ground for future Foresight projects at EU level and contribute to the development of central Foresight infrastructures for the European Foresight community. All in all, it was a successful conclusion to many years of collaboration in the future-oriented advisory of European RTI policy.
