AIT wins the eAward twice

10.11.2023
The AIT Center for Technology Experience and the AIT Center for Digital Safety & Security received the eAward in two categories this year.

In 2022, the Shotpros project https://shotpros.eu (VR training for the police) received the eAward and now the MED1stMR project https://www.med1stmr.eu led by the AIT Center for Technology Experience has received the eAward in the "Education and Social Affairs" category. We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to ALL OUR PARTNERS who were involved in both projects!

In the MED1stMR project, a mixed reality training prototype was developed to optimally prepare emergency services and paramedics throughout Europe for accidents. A total of 19 European partners and six emergency organizations such as the Johanniter in Austria are working together on the project under the leadership of the AIT Center for Technology Experience.

Helmut Schrom-Feiertag (project coordinator of the AIT Center for Technology Experience), Birgit Schilcher from the Johanniter Research and Innovation Center, Sebastian Egger-Lampl from MINDCONSOLE GmbH, Prof. Robert Galler from the Zentrum am Berg (ZAB) at the University of Leoben and Christine Wahlmüller-Schiller from the AIT accepted the eAward on behalf of all 19 project partners. Thanks also to Report editor-in-chief Martin Szelgrad and Mario Berger from Google Austria, who presented us with the award.

The jury judged:

"An implementation that will change trainings in the long run"
"Lives are saved with mixed and virtual reality"
"Lighthouse projects in the lifelike visualization of operational scenarios"

eAward number two for the Fakeshop Detector

There was another reason to celebrate at the award ceremony: the Fakeshop Detector project, led by the AIT Center for Digital Safety & Security and with the participation of the AIT Center for Technology Experience, received the eAward in the "Artificial Intelligence" category.

The aim of the Fake Shop Detector is to check unknown online shops in real time using artificial intelligence, for which the initial AI model was trained on more than 21,000 features. If a shop is suspicious, the Detector issues a warning. The tool identifies fake stores with over 90 percent probability. The plugin is available free of charge for Firefox, Edge and Chrome in the browser stores and at www.fakeshop.at.

The Fake Shop Detector was developed by AIT in close cooperation with the Austrian Institute for Applied Telecommunications (ÖIAT) and the Austrian IT solution provider X-Net from Linz. The Fake Shop Detector www.fakeshop.at emerged from several Austrian security research projects (including SINDBAD, RIO) and was funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism as part of the KIRAS funding program.

The jury judged:

"we need all kinds of tools to ward off online crime"
"prevents economic damage for users"
"an ingenious solution restores trust when shopping online"
