Mayrs Magazin shows VR training for the police: AIT cooperates with SIAK

25.10.2023
When it comes to innovative education and training for the police, the AIT Center for Technology Experience is cooperating with the Security Academy (SIAK) of the Ministry of the Interior (BMI).

The AITwas involved in an international conference in Vienna on the topic of VR use for emergency forces – as seen last Friday, October 20, in Mayr's magazine on ORF. Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) are not only exciting in the gaming and entertainment sector, but can also be used very well for training purposes. The AIT Center for Technology Experience has extensive know-how in this area and is considered a pioneer in Austria for these technologies - summarized under the term XR (eXtended Reality) - and their use for emergency services such as police, rescue and fire departments, but also in industry.

Markus Murtiger, Head of Business Unit Experience Business Transformation at AIT, explains how artificial intelligence can be used to personalize MR training. Also on display: our training prototype for first aid training, developed in the MED1stMR project.

The aim is to develop mixed reality training for emergency paramedics throughout Europe. 19 partners are involved in this EU Horizon 2020 project led by the AIT Center for Technology Experience: research institutions, medical emergency organizations and technical partners are working together. The MED1strMR project was also recently awarded the prestigious eAward in the category "Education and Social".
