AIT Energy @ Austrians Photovoltaic Conference in Linz

09.12.2014

The new Business Unit Photovoltaic Systems presented their know-how at the 12th Austrian Photovoltaic Conference in Linz. The AIT Experts gave presentations about quality assurance of photovoltaics, photovoltaic grid integration and current and future standards. The results of the working packages within the IEA Photovoltaic Power Systems Program were shown to complete AIT’s contribution.

Energy leads projects within the international PV Power Systems Program
The Energy Department works within the IEA Photovoltaic Power Systems Program, which is one of the R&D collaboration agreements established within the International Energy Agency. The Energy Department leads one project and is involved in two other projects. The first project has the objective to improve the operation, reliability and the electric and economic output of photovoltaic power systems. The second one focuses on electric grid configurations with a high penetration of photovoltaics and the third project, which started a couple of weeks ago, focuses on photovoltaics in the built environment.

AIT shapes future PV Standards
The experts of the Energy Department are working inside of the most important committees to develop the future standards in the field of PV Modules testing requirements and construction of PV plants. “These activities give AIT the possibility to shape general frameworks of photovoltaic standards and it gives us furthermore a strong position to provide our customers the know-how along the entire value chain – from the solar cell to PV Power Systems”, says Christoph Mayr, Head of Business Unit Photovoltaic Systems.
