Between digital transformation, opportunities and risks

The Austrian Association for Electrical Engineering (OVE) is organizing jointly with the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) and the AIT Austrian Institue of Technology the IT-Kolloquium 2017 - Digital transformation, opportunities and risks in Vienna.

The advancing digitization creates new challenges for us. Intelligent networking of all resources will lead to further changes in our habitats. The digital transformation in the fields of energy, nanotechnology, communication, mobility, serial production, safety and security, will be demonstrated in an exciting context with regard to the needs of people as bridges between present and future.

Thomas Lorünser, Scientist at the AIT Center for Digital Safety & Security, will give a lecture about "Security and privacy for cloud computing in the context of the digital transformation"

Abstract:The digital transformation is rapidly invading all aspects of our life, be it in the professional or private area. Cloud computing is one technology driving this shift in changing the way we are accessing IT resources. Cloud computing will also serve as a backbone for modern, data intense, widely distributed applications in the Internet of Things (IoT).

It will be used to aggregate and process large amounts of data and also to share them between different stakeholders. Despite its many benefits, this technology also introduces many new security and privacy risks for users, which need to be addressed. This talk highlights some research in this area and presents novel approaches under development to better protect the security of data during their life cycle in the cloud as well as methods to protect the privacy of users interacting with cloud systems.

Date: 09. May 2017
