Experience: Organic Synthesis Organic Electronic Devices (OLEDs, OFETs, Biosensors) Biosensors Johannes Bintinger received his Master’s degree in Technical Chemistry from the TU Wien (Austria) in 2011, based on his work on C-H activation of triarylamines and oligothiophenes (Prof. Johannes Fröhlich). In spring 2016, he earned his PhD (TU Wien), for his work "on the design and synthesis of novel organic semiconductors towards their applications in organic electronics applications" such as self-assembled monolayer field-effect transistors (SAMFETs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), printed organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) and (gas-) sensors (in collaboration with Prof. Ioannis Kymissis at Columbia University, NY, USA). Later that year, he joined the team of Prof. Wolfgang Knoll (AIT, CEST) in the BioSensor Technologies group as a postdoctoral researcher, where he worked on a novel optoelectronic sensor platform which combines SPR and EG-FET methods in a single analytical device thus enabling simultaneous, lable-free, real-time measurements of mass and charge. This tool allows for new insights into biosensing processes which are beyond the scope of each individual tool. In an industry oriented project he developed a biomimetic and polymer based digital IoT-smell sensor capable of discriminating various real-world odors in less than 15 s. This research is currently being commercialized. Since summer of 2019, Johannes also joined the Laboratory of Organic Electronics at LIU under the supervision of Prof. Magnus Berggren conducting research on the next generation of organic electronic ion pumps and focusing on solving the current size limitation of the iontronic transport. Since January 2021 he is the CEO of "n-Ink"; a material science start-up company providing dedicated n-type inks of unprecedented electronic performance for printed electronics, internet of things and bioelectronics applications.
