Main Research: Diagnostic Biosensors

Experience: Stefan Schrittwieser's research interests target biosensor technologies for point-of-care diagnostics by using nanomaterials with distinct optical and/or magnetic properties (e.g. localized surface plasmons, superparamagnetism). This includes nanoparticle synthesis, nanoparticle surface modifications by specific proteins and antibodies, and the detection of biochemical interactions on the so modified surface. Furthermore, the research includes the design and development of prototype setups and the simulation of the optical, magnetic and hydrodynamic behavior of nanoparticles.
