SCIS Final Conference in Budapest

Empowering smart solutions for better cities, 2-3 Oct., 2017

The EU Smart Cities Information System (SCIS) project will hold a final dissemination conference with the objective to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities and of the recommendations on replication of smart cities projects.

The 2-day conference will be organized at Millináris, a former industrial site which was turned into a creative cultural and event location in Budapest, Hungary and addresses stakeholders from smart cities & energy efficiency projects, project experts, EC representatives, cities, smart cities initiatives, industry and business. Beside the presentation of the main project outcomes it will offer opportunities for interactive sessions, exhibition space and lounge areas for one-on-one meetings.  

With the title “Empowering smart solutions for better cities”, the conference will bring together creative thinkers and decision-makers in urban planning, sustainable energy, mobility, ICT, smart business models and user-centric innovation. High level city representatives will debate the transformation of European cities, while smart cities projects will showcase innovative solutions and discuss crucial steps on the path to a smarter city.

 The conference will kick off with an inspirational talk from Usman Haque, Founding Partner of Umbrellium - collective of architects, designers, tactical urbanists and creative technologists based in London. Speakers include Balázs Szeneczey, Deputy Mayor of Urban development of Budapest;  Ulf Kamne, Deputy Mayor of Gothenburg; Dominique Ristori, Director General of DG Energy at the European Commission and Tomasz Pactwa, Director of the Welfare & Social Projects Department of Warsaw.
