Smarticipate project well under way

05.12.2016
Opening up the smart city

The smarticipate project, co-ordinated by Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD, is now well under way, with the first two Smartathons held in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) and Hamburg. The Smartathons brought together residents of the cities to get their input on how they would like the smarticipate platform to function in practice. The next Smartathon will take place in Rome in January 2017.

Watch a short video on the RBKC Smartathon, providing an insight into the activities. The first series of live case studies are online, providing an insight into the project’s progress in each city. Additionally, the report Open Governance in the Smart City is available to download from the smarticipate website. It provides an overview of how cities are using smart technology to enhance governance processes. Based on an analysis of 11 case studies, the document outlines seven recommendations, or things to be considered by cities when using ICT in open governance processes.

As a core partner within smarticipate, AIT is responsible for the overall system concept and the application and frontend development.
