symbIoTe plenary meeting 2016

The symbIoTe 2016 meeting took place from 6 to 8th July at AIT in Tech Gate Vienna. The H2020 project symbIoTe aims to develop a standardized interoperability layer for IoT platforms in order to enable cross-platform applications and is part of the IoT European Platforms Initiative (IoT-EPI). 44 participants of the project met in Vienna to discuss a broad range of topics, covering details of the federated architecture, the use cases to be addressed as well as the underlying business and innovation models.

On Tuesday 5th July about 20 people were attending a public event of the symbIoTe project preceding the plenary meeting and discussed the future strategy to enable cross-platform applications in the IoT domain. In the public event, participants of the project discussed their vision together with other experts. Martin Stierle, Head of Business Unit Optical Quantum Technology presented AIT activities in the field of Industry 4.0 and the underlying security issues.

Michael Hagler from the City of Vienna presented Viennas Digital Agenda. Sergios Soursos from Intracom Telecom (Greece) and Ivana Podnar Žarko, University of Zagreb / FER presented the symbIoTe vision and the underlying technical approach. AIT expert Ivan Gojmerac  presented the smart mobility use-case, which will be realized within the symbIoTe project and which will integrate environmental and traffic information to provide a smart ecological routing service
