Workshop on Personalization in Serious & Persuasive Games & Gamified Interactions @CHI PLAY 2015

Personalization can make serious and persuasive games and gamified interactions more effective. Serious and persuasive games, as well as gamified interactions have become popular in the last years.  They have been researched, developed and applied within several domains, such as health, education and marketing. An emerging discussion is on whether we should develop “one-size-fits-all”- or tailored systems. Along with this discussion, several questions arise: With which dimensions should we personalize serious and persuasive games and gamified systems, e.g. personality, cognitive abilities, gender, persuadability, player types, gamification user types, different states? What effect does personalization have on player experience, usage frequency and commercial success of these games and systems? What is the return of investment of personalization? 

The business unit Technology Experience from AIT organizes within the projects GEMPLAY and Bike’N’Play – in collaboration with other organizations from industry and science – a workshop at the CHI PLAY 2015 conference in London. The workshop will take place on the 4th of October. The ultimate goal is to outline a future research agenda on personalization of serious and persuasive games and gamified interactions.
