GaN onboard charger

Project EMOTION

GaN onboard charger (Project EMOTION)

The EMOTION project focuses, among other things, on the development of GaN-based on-board chargers (OBCs) for electric vehicles and aims to improve efficiency and reduce size and weight. GaN-based chargers offer advantages such as higher efficiency and higher power density compared to conventional silicon-based chargers. This leads to greater design flexibility for electric vehicle manufacturers.

Benefits of GaN-based onboard charger systens:

  • Increased Efficiency:

GaN devices enable higher efficiency in onboard charger systens, reducing power dissipation.

  • Reduced Size and Weight:

GaN-based onboard charger systens are significantly smaller and lighter than their silicon counterparts, contributing to overall vehicle weight reduction and improved design flexibility.

  • Environmentally Friendly:

GaN chargers require fewer raw materials to manufacture and waste less energy during charging, making them a more sustainable choice.
