Reminder- and documentation system for regular medication intake - a central topic in care of elderly and chronically ill people is the regular intake of medications. On the one hand side especially elderly people often forget to take their medicine, on the other hand care takers often need to control the regular intake of the medication.
At the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology we have therefore developed a reminder- and documentation system for medication intake (Personal Drug Reminder – PDR), which is especially designed to fulfil the special need of elderly people. In a study (PDR-Eval), supported by the program benefit www.ffg.at/content.php?cid=743, the acceptance and usability of the system was successfully evaluated. In the future, we plan to incorporate this system in integrated care- and eHealth-solutions to increase compliance and safety of medication intake and thus help to increase health and sefety of elderly people.
