On behalf of an integrator of video security technologies, AIT developed an embedded standalone MPEG4/H264 video encoder/decoder used in the Vienna Underground surveillance system. The system design and development is unique because there was no single device on the market able to meet all the special requirements, including miniaturization, an extremely wide temperature range, very low maintenance, and electromagnetic compatibility issues. AIT undertook the complete development, including real-time embedded software, certified hardware and communication protocols. The key feature is the high quality design of the system, with low unit costs for production in medium quantities production.
