Further Development of Market Premium Support Including the Role of PPAs
The objective of the planned short study "Market Premiums 2.0" is to promptly develop proposals for a substantive reform and further development of the recently established market premium system in Austria, aimed at promoting the expansion of renewable energies in the domestic electricity market. Addressing issues such as the systemic handling of potential windfall profits, improving incentive elements for market integration, and minimizing risks in project financing are considered central. Additionally, the possible contribution of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in this context will be thoroughly examined. This is intended to ensure a timely and cost-efficient achievement of the Renewable Expansion Act (EAG) expansion targets.
