PHVision ‚DIGITAL CITY’

International building exhibition Heidelberg

PHVision ‚DIGITAL CITY’

objective

Heidelberg is a Knowledge Pearl. The city is known worldwide both for its cultural heritage and for its outstanding scientific institutions. At the Patrick-Henry-Village (PHV) conversion site in Heidelberg, in the heart of the Rheinneckar metropolitan region, an innovation driver in Germany, a knowledge city of the future is being built.

The IBA format is dedicated to innovative and complex urban development topics of high international relevance. With the slogan ‘Wissen schafft Stadt’, Heidelberg is addressing the question of what the digital future of the city can look like and how new technologies will change the processes and methods of urbanization.

project description

Since April 2019, the project team led by Nikolas Neubert and Hans-Martin Neumann has been working on the development of a dynamic master plan for the IBA key project 'PHVision'. A step-by-step development of the area respects valuable existing structures, both in the open spaces and the technical infrastructures as well as the integration of selected buildings.

In a co-production process, AIT is working intensively on the future of the area with renowned international players such as ARUP, KCAP, Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl, Urban Standards and the Fraunhofer Institute.
