The objective in this individual project of industrial research is to synthesize transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) as functional anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. The materials are synthesized in two ways: direct precipitation and solvothermic method. The TMDSs treated with nanocarbons are supposed to provide a better cycle performance than graphite while maintaining a satisfactory energy density and cycle life. One focus is on the search for the optimal synthesis for the precipitation of TMDC materials and anodes based on TMDC for high-performance lithium-ion batteries. Another focus of the Ladichal project is the deeper understanding of intercalation and deintercalation mechanisms in the electrode to identify the key parameters for industrial implementation.
