MgBio-ISOS

Magnesium based biodegradable intramedullary osteosynthesis implant system

The aim of this project is to develop a biodegradable, intramedullary implant system made of magnesium for the treatment of shaft fractures of long bones with small diameter. The system shall be minimally invasive, shall stabilize the fracture against dislocation, tilt and rotation, shall act compressive to the fracture sides for a better bone healing and shall be resorbed by the body after it has fulfilled its task without any negative effect to the human body, thereby preventing a removal surgery.
